The show’s premise couldn’t be more fertile, but awkwardly preachy dialogue and a ham-fisted approach to race and male-female relations stumbles out of the gate. Still, I’m cautiously hopeful...
Season 1 we watched when it aired. Child rape, I'm a bit tired of. I hate multiple timelines, it's confusing in a Christopher Nolan no-good-reason (movies for dumb people who want to seem smart) way and adds nothing except more jobs for makeup artists.
We watched season 3 in anticipation of watching season 4 and the show completely lost us. The story was soooo slow, the flashbacks/timeslines sooo unnecessary, and it just dragged on and on endlessly and the payoff was not worth it. True Detective will not get my time again! From what I see on Reddit, this latest season is even worse plus it has a ton of idpol virtue signaling (I heard).
