Say it loud: the emperor has no clothes.
Biden's latest teleprompter gaffe makes both his cognitive decline and our widespread cognitive dissonance painfully clear.

Just wondering when we’re finally going to get to the place where someone admits that the emperor has no clothes? We're living in a satire, a surrealist nightmare that's gone so far past the point of making any rational sense that it's starting to look hysterically funny in a macabre kind of way.
For the record, I thought Trump was an abomination. And so is what we have now. I've voted Democrat my entire life. If partisan fanaticism has rendered your cognition so inoperable that you can't see a flaming asteroid for what it is (b/c the previous flaming asteroid was so bad), then that's a shame.
I said when this guy won the nomination that he was the absolute worst possible candidate for the job, that his nomination would be a disaster, that he would inspire nothing, and that the country would sink ever further into chaos and depravity. My instincts told me that we were at the cusp of going from the presidential equivalent of a raging narcissistic alcoholic parent to an equally dysfunctional foster parent who would disfigure our collective psyche by other means. And boy, did Biden not disappoint.
“But what about January 6th?” Yes, I know. But if you’ve just put out a house fire, that isn’t sufficient reason to let your roof cave in. And something — many things — are short-circuiting our ability to properly triage all the threats in our path.
Watching the pathetic scene above play out for the nth time while half the country refuses to accept that the president is one hair shy of drooling crushed peas onto a bib reminds me of that scene in Apocalypse Now when Martin Sheen's character asks the soldier at the bridge "Who's the commanding officer here?" and the soldier responds "Ain't you?!"
There is no one at the helm, no captain on the deck of the USA. Hopefully that terrifies you enough to inspire you. Our old way of doing things — where we passively allowed behemoth institutions to do the work of governing for us — is crumbling before our very eyes. This charade isn't gonna last much longer. It’s time to decide now how you want to live if you were to regain some measure of autonomy. Because, for our sins, we just might get it.
Oh, we’ll pay a price — it’ll no doubt come with enormous hardship — but perhaps the fruit of our toil will be a freedom from having to lie to ourselves nonstop.
FYI, this is not the disparage or make light of seniors with dementia. I've had two beloved relatives spend their final years in an incoherent state in nursing homes and it was extremely painful to watch. Whatever one might say about Joe Biden's politics, I don't understand why someone in his position wouldn't prefer to spend his twilight years comfortably, rather than in the high-stress crucible of the presidency. In any case, whatever dignity he deserves, his cognitive decline should alarm us, and the denial around his capacity to govern should alarm us even more. I mean, you wouldn't let your senile grandfather operate heavy machinery or install a new roof on our home, would we? And your willingness to limit that grandfather would come from a place of love, not disparagement.
So, when facing the reality that we’re being gaslit each day he’s trotted out there as our president — with constant assurances that we’re in capable hands — there's great relief in saying it loud enough for others to hear: THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES. THIS GUY IS UNFIT FOR THE JOB.
There’s no need to shy away from it. Go ahead, say it! However ugly the truth may be, it sure feels good to just call it like it is, doesn’t it!
